Pöyry will Design Airport Rail Line in Poland
Polish rail operator PKP (Polskie Linie Kolejowe) has awarded a €7.5m contract to Finland-based Pöyry to design a new airport rail line in the city of Katowice.
The 38km rail line will run from Katowice airport in Pyrzowice to the Katowice city centre and other cities of the Upper Silesian agglomeration. Pöyry will work with DB International for the project as the consortium leader.
The consortium will deliver a feasibility study, a preliminary study, building permit design, tender design and an environmental impact assessment for the project.
The project is funded by the EU Cohesion Fund and the Polish State budget and will extend from October 2009 until May 2011.
