Introduction

Alstom announced the creation of 100 new jobs across Italy by March 2026, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of its Sesto San Giovanni site, a center for railway subsystem and component maintenance and production.

New Job Openings

Alstom is launching a hiring campaign to fill 100 new positions across Italy by March 2026. These roles will focus on technically specialized profiles in railway maintenance, including professionals with expertise in electrical and electromechanical fields, as well as graduates in mechanical, electronic, and management engineering, preferably with experience in industrial automation or railway vehicle technologies. This initiative aligns with investments totaling 25 million euros over four years in Alstom’s Services business in Italy. These investments are aimed at strengthening industrial activities, expanding production capacity, and increasing local presence through continuous research and innovation.

Sesto San Giovanni Site

The Sesto San Giovanni site, acquired by Alstom in 2000, serves as a center of excellence for the production, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of railway subsystems and components for high-speed trains, regional trains, trams, and metro systems. The site employs more than 300 people and produces over 1,500 components, including traction converters and driving desks, along with more than 12,000 spare parts and repairs annually. The site operates as part of the Product Line Services in Milan, Lombardy, and across Italy through several dedicated maintenance depots.

Technological Advancements

The Sesto San Giovanni site features a 3D Printing Laboratory dedicated to spare part production for main railway operators, using advanced polymer printing technologies and reverse engineering tools. The site also includes a Control Room monitoring fleet availability and reliability in commercial service. In 2025, the site received the Assolombarda Award in the Digitalisation category for its adoption of advanced digital solutions.
