Alstom Delivers First Long Distance Tren Maya Train in Mexico

These trains are designed to provide passengers with enhanced safety, comfort, and modern amenities for both day and night travel.

The Long Distance Train (P’atal) features multi-functional cabins that transform from work and relaxation spaces during the day into comfortable sleeping bunks at night.

Additionally, the train boasts a restaurant car and a cafeteria car, offering passengers a variety of dining options during their journey.

With a capacity to accommodate 260 passengers, the train includes 238 standard seats, 4 spaces for passengers with reduced mobility, and 18 seats distributed across 9 cabins. This configuration provides 17% more capacity compared to the previous model.

Maite Ramos, Managing Director of Alstom Mexico, commented: “We are creating a milestone in Mexico’s mobility with the Tren Maya, a project that reflects Alstom’s ability to lead the future of transportation.”

Before entering full operation, the train will undergo comprehensive static and dynamic testing to ensure all critical systems, such as traction, braking, and passenger information, comply with safety standards.

This delivery marks the first of three scheduled for the Tren Maya project, part of a 42-train fleet that includes 31 Standard Xiinbal trains and 8 Restaurant Janal trains.

The trains are manufactured locally in Mexico, supporting the country’s workforce.
