A building materials supplier has delivered 103,000m³ of low-carbon RMX for prefabricated tunnel sections in Birmingham, bringing the total supply of RMX to approximately 900,000m³. This is part of its ongoing work on the HS2 project.

RMX Concrete Supply to HS2

The company continues its work on HS2 in west Birmingham, where it has delivered more than 500,000m³ of RMX concrete. This supply, along with deliveries to other northern sections of the project, is supported by three nearby concrete plants. The average distance that its RMX solutions travel to site is within two miles, specifically to the North (N)2 segment of HS2.

Old Oak Common Station Project

Approximately 300,000m³ of RMX concrete has already been supplied to the Old Oak Common railway station in West London, a new transport hub built as part of HS2. An additional 30,000m³ of RMX concrete is scheduled for installation at Old Oak Common between now and 2030.

Aggregate and Cement Supply

Since the start of HS2 in 2021, over two million tonnes of bulk fill aggregates have been supplied to the South (S)1 and 2 and North (N)1 and 2 segments of the project. Cement has been directly supplied for tunnel grouting to the project’s Central (C)1, as well as its N1 and N2 segments.
