Infrastructure Upgrades
The initial two weeks of the 30-day closure saw significant progress on the John William Street bridge, where two new bridge decks were installed as part of the Huddersfield viaduct strengthening. This work will facilitate the addition of tracks and overhead line equipment (OLE) in the future.
Within the station, platforms 1 & 2 have been demolished for platform and track remodelling. This will lengthen the platforms, enabling longer trains with increased seating capacity to serve the station. New track, drainage, and signals have also been installed across the wider route.

During the works, Network Rail, Northern, and TransPennine Express are collaborating to keep customers moving via diversionary routes and rail replacement bus services. Brighouse has been temporarily designated as a Rail-Bus interchange. TRU has invested £100m in diversionary routes to improve their reliability during main line closures.
