Czechia’s Přerov Rail Control: New Facility, Doubled Coverage
Czech railway administration awards CZK 2.3B contract for Přerov Traffic Control Centre expansion, boosting remote control capabilities.

Introduction
Správa železnic has awarded contracts to AŽD and Signalbau for the construction of a new building at the Přerov Traffic Control Centre, a project valued at CZK 2.3 billion (approximately EUR 93 million), with construction slated to commence in September.
Project Scope and Contractors
The project aims to extend remote railway traffic control to additional lines in the eastern part of Czechia. The contract was awarded to AŽD and Signalbau, with a total value of CZK 2.3 billion (approximately EUR 93 million). The construction is planned to begin in September.
Facility Details and Functionality
The new facility will be a six-storey building, connected to the existing dispatching center. It will include six control rooms, each equipped with technological, administrative, and welfare facilities. Each room will feature a tiered layout with large LED display panels. The building will also house a dedicated ETCS control room, along with emergency and backup control rooms.
Infrastructure and Technological Components
The new structure will incorporate space for signalling equipment, power supply systems, and battery storage. An energy center will be built to supply power to the entire facility, and dozens of new parking spaces will be added. The entire site will be monitored by CCTV, and the perimeter fencing will be equipped with a detection system.
Operational Impact and Expansion
Currently, the Přerov Traffic Control Centre remotely manages train operations on 559 km of track in Moravia and Silesia. Upon completion, the expansion is expected to double the coverage. The original building, completed in the early 2000s, facilitated remote rail control over a stretch of nearly 100 km, from Přerov to Břeclav.
Conclusion
The construction of the new building at the Přerov Traffic Control Centre, undertaken by AŽD and Signalbau, will expand remote railway traffic control capabilities in the eastern part of Czechia. The project includes a six-storey building with new control rooms and supporting infrastructure, aiming to double the current operational coverage. Construction is scheduled to commence in September, with completion expected in early 2028.
