Bengaluru’s HSR Works will Begin Soon
Work is set to begin soon on the Indian city of Bengaluru’s High Speed Rail Link (HSRL) project connecting the city centre to Bengaluru International Airport (BIA), after the project was awarded central government approval.
The HSRL will extend 34km starting from MG Road up to the BIA and will run along the National Highway. At the BIA, the elevated train will go underground below the airport lounge, 100m from check-in counters.
The project is worth Rs 5,767 crore ($1.2bn) and has been given a compensation of Rs 532 crore ($110m) owing to market slowdown. The HSRL will start from BRV Grounds and have two stops at Hebbal and Yelahanka. There is a proposal for integration at Minsk Square of Phase I and Yelahanka of Phase II.
