An Agreement Was Signed between “RZD International” and JSC “Infrastructure Railways of Serbia” on the Reconstruction of Three Southern Sections of the Pan-European Transport Corridor X

Republic of Serbia, additional agreement no. 2.2 to the main contract for the upgrade of the infrastructure of Serbian railways in the south for a total length of 46 497 m as part of the development of Pan-European Corridor X was signed.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of President of JSC “Russian Railways” Oleg Belozerov; Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović; and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Serbia Alexandra Chepurina.

The document was signed by General Director of JSC “Infrastructure Railways of Serbia” Goran Maksić and General Director of “RZD International” Sergei Pavlov.

The agreement provides for the reconstruction of railway infrastructure in the three southern sections of the Pan-European Transport Corridor X with a total length of more than 46 km: Vinarci–Djordjevo, Vranjska Banja–Ristovac, and Bujanovac–Bukarevac. In accordance with the agreements reached by parties, the lower track structure will be completely replaced and the signaling system (alarm–centralization–lock), telecommunications, and contact network will be reconstructed.

In the project, “RZD International” will use advanced Russian technologies on the track, increasing performance and significantly reducing the time of the work. It is important to note that the reconstruction of the areas will be in the “window” mode and the complete cessation of trains will be unnecessary.

After the signing ceremony, President of JSC “Russian Railways” O.V. Belozerov held working meetings with President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić and Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.
