Paris Transit Signs €189m Contract for New Metro Trains
Paris transit authority Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) is to beef up its fleet with 49 metro trainsets in a contract worth €189m with Bombardier, Alstom and Areva TA.
Bombardier says its MF2000 metro trains, which consume 30 percent less energy than a traditional metro, provide a more efficient service “through performance improvements in the traction system and energy-regenerative electric brakes”.
Rail technology manufacturer Areva TA will supply IT security systems and train data transmission systems while French rail manufacturer Alstom Transport will oversee the project, supplying different components and sub-assemblies for energy production, traction-braking systems and IT systems.
