ÖBB to Commence Station Renovations on Pannonia Railway
Austria’s national rail company, ÖBB, is set to complete renovation work on four stations along its Pannonia Railway line as part of a €4 million ($4.4 million) modernisation project for the route.
The stations in Schützen am Gebirge, Donnerskirchen, Breitenbrunn, and Winden am See will undergo a comprehensive overhaul by the company. This renovation includes improvements to their accessibility with barrier-free equipment and guidance systems for visually impaired passengers.
Additional work will encompass the construction of technical rooms and platform roofs at all stations, as well as the renewal of platform equipment, lighting, and public address systems.
ÖBB announced that work will commence at three of the stations on September 2, with the modernisation of Schützen am Gebirge starting later on September 30. All work is scheduled for completion by November 29, 2024.
The company will also be carrying out track covering renewals and maintenance work to compact the ballast bed on certain sections of the line. This will necessitate closures between October 14 and November 22.
This project is one of many upgrades being implemented by ÖBB across Austria’s rail network. The company has also recently begun preparations for an €878 million expansion of the Werndorf – Spielfeld-Straß southern railway line in the state of Styria. This expansion includes modernisation works at all stations along the route.
