Interfleet Technology Conceptualised to Saudi Arabian Trains

UK firm Interfleet Technology has completed the conceptual designs for passenger trains to run on the North-South Railway in Saudi Arabia, which is currently under construction.

The trainsets are being designed to stand sandstorms and temperatures of 50°C in the Great An-Nafud Desert in the country.
The trains will feature diesel-electric locomotives at each end and will reach speeds of up to 200kmph.
Rail cars have been developed for executive, business and economy class services as well as for restaurant vehicles and sleeper coaches.
Interfleet has worked with the Saudi Railway Company (SAR) to develop conceptual designs with inputs from SAR’s in-house designers and consultants.
The passenger trains are scheduled to run from 2012.
