Ekateringburg Underground Purchase 2 New Trains

Russian largest producer of subway cars – a Moscow satellite plant “Metrovagonmash” (MVM, being a part of JSC «Transmashholding») signed a contract with the Transportation Committee of Ekaterinburg city for delivery of 8 new subway cars (4 leading and 4 middle) of Series 81-717.5М/81-714.5М.

The cars ordered by the government of Ekaterinburg, are in conformity with the up-to-date technical requirements of fire safety, electrical safety and environmental friendliness. Fire – resistant and non combustible materials will be used for interior finishing of the driver’s cab and coaches. The coaches have natural inlet – outlet as well as forced ventilation. The coaches are equipped with modern system of operation safety. Interior of the passengers’ coaches will be made with advanced materials.

The agreement stipulates that the locomotive would be delivered to the client before September 2011.

The Ekaterinburg’s subway system is one of the newest in Russia, it was inaugurated in 1991. The rolling stock comprises 54 coaches 81-717.5/81-714.5. It is the first time Metrovagonmash supplies its products to Ekaterinburg.
