Bombardier Transportation – Rail Control Solutions

Bombardier Transportation’s Rail Control Solutions
Division portfolio covers the whole range of BOMBARDIER CITYFLO mass transit solutions, ranging from manual to fully automatic to communications-based systems. It provides BOMBARDIER INTERFLO mainline solutions, from conventional systems to European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 3 systems, as well as mining and industrial applications.
This extensive range includes integrated control systems, computer and relay-based interlocking, automatic train protection and train operation systems, and radio-based rail control and signalling, as well as wayside equipment.
The systems are designed to increase line capacity and availability, whilst maintaining safety, as well as meeting railway operator individual requirements.
This complete palette of wayside and on-board equipment is also available as stand-alone products to meet customer specifications.
Computer-based interlocking systems
Bombardier provides the EBI Lock computer-based interlocking system, which locks and releases train routes on railway lines.
The EBI Lock supervises and controls wayside objects, such as point machines, signals and level crossing protection. The cost-effective system is flexible, quick to install and easily adapted for various signalling principles.
The interlocking systems are based on fail-safe signalling technology and established safety principles.
Automatic train control wayside equipment
EBI Link is a range of wayside components that provide automatic train protection (ATP) for mass transit and main line systems.
The wayside equipment operates in conjunction with on-board ATP computers to provide drivers with information about speed and approaching objects, such as points or signals.
The EBI Link range includes balises, which provide either fixed or variable data from track to train and are compliant with European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) standards. Balises are activated by an antenna mounted under a passing train, eliminating the need for a power supply.
Train location systems, axle counters and track circuits
EBI Track train detection equipment consists of train location systems, axle counters and track circuits. The train location system provides train-to-track communication in conjunction with a transmitter on-board the vehicle and a receiving loop in the track.
The train picks up movements continuously via the track circuit up to the end of the block last cleared.
Robust, low-maintenance point machines for railways
Bombardier Transportation offers mass transit and main line point machines, including sleeper-integrated and conventional end-of-sleeper systems, and machines mounted in a recess between the rails.
EBI Switch point machines’ components are robust and durable, and require minimum maintenance. The systems’ modular design enables fast on-site servicing without disturbing traffic.
Optical signals
EBI Light optical signals are used to provide trains with proceed or not-to-proceed information.
The main line and mass transit solutions include tunnel signals, fibre-optic searchlight and alpha-numeric signals, and multi-aspect colour signals.
Railway level crossings
EBI Gate level crossings provide highly reliable barriers and signals across a main line or mass transit network. The Bombardier crossing systems allow for the application of various warning devices and detectors, as well as offer short repair times and easy maintenance.
