Alstom has been awarded an $84 million contract to upgrade the automated people mover (APM) system at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The project involves deploying ten next-generation Innovia APM R vehicles, enhancing the Urbalis Flo signaling system, and integrating advanced cybersecurity measures.
Michael Keroullé, President of Alstom Americas, emphasized the company’s long-standing partnership with the airport, stating that the upgrades will prioritize sustainability, passenger safety, and operational efficiency. The new Innovia APM R cars feature energy-efficient designs, increased speed capabilities, and lightweight aluminum frames to reduce environmental impact.
Since its initial APM installation in 1985, Harry Reid International has expanded its automated transit network with multiple lines. The latest upgrades will also replace the existing Central Control ATS system with the Ebi Screen 2000 solution and modernize telecommunications infrastructure to ensure seamless operations for millions of annual travelers.
