At the TRAKO trade fair in Gdańsk, The Signalling Company (TSC), a Škoda Group affiliate, unveiled its European Train Control System (ETCS) solution, based on the Universal Digital Rail Platform iEVC-RailOS.

The Signalling Company (TSC) presented its European Train Control System (ETCS) solution at the TRAKO trade fair in Gdańsk. This marks TSC’s entry into the train safety market.

System Details

The new ETCS system is built on the Universal Digital Rail Platform iEVC-RailOS. This platform combines compact on-board hardware with software-defined signalling applications. Following the Belgian TBL1+ system, ETCS is the second certified protection system on the platform.

Industry Impact and Support

Alexandre Bétis, Managing Director of TSC, highlighted the ETCS certification as a key milestone. Zdeněk Sváta, Member of the Board of Directors of Škoda Group, noted that developing their own ETCS enables Škoda Group to provide comprehensive solutions. Bruno Vanlede, Head of Rail Fleet Management at Lineas, also commented on the project.

Development and Features

Work on the ETCS solution began in 2019, aiming to create a fully software-defined signalling platform. The system is designed for compactness, energy efficiency, and ease of installation. The iEVC-RailOS architecture is designed to host both ETCS and national signalling systems. The ETCS certification builds on the successful approval of the Belgian TBL1+ system, certified in May 2025 on a Lineas HLD77 locomotive.
