The TRU Community Fund is offering grants of £1,000 to £20,000 to organizations located within five miles of the Transpennine route, which includes Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, and York. Applications will be accepted from Monday 6 October to Monday 27 October.

Eligibility and Scope

The TRU Community Fund is available to organizations within a five-mile radius of the Transpennine route. Additionally, organizations within five miles of the Shipley Traincare Centre are eligible to apply. The fund’s objective is to assist in the creation or enhancement of community-focused facilities, both indoor and outdoor.

Application Process

Applications for the TRU Community Fund will open on Monday 6 October and close on Monday 27 October. Neighbourly is managing the funding on behalf of TRU. Project Context

The Community Fund supports TRU’s commitment to investing in local communities and protecting the areas in which it will operate over the next decade. Alex Peters, Interim Head of Sustainability and Social Value for TRU, stated that the fund’s second round reflects the ongoing commitment to support the communities. The Transpennine Route Upgrade is a multi-billion-pound program. The project is currently halfway through major upgrades at Huddersfield station.

Huddersfield Station Upgrades

The upgrades at Huddersfield station encompass the reconstruction and extension of station platforms to accommodate longer trains. Additional work includes strengthening Huddersfield viaduct and upgrading tracks and signalling to improve reliability.
