Introduction
Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT have finalized the installation of a new Integrated Supervisory Control System (ISCS) for the Circle Line (CCL) in preparation for the opening of Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6) in the first half of 2026.
Installation Completion
The installation of the ISCS was completed in July, after six years of work. The ISCS is a core system of the CCL, monitoring and managing power supply, communications, and station facilities across the line. The existing ISCS system was replaced to align with the systems for Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6).
Systems Integration Testing
LTA and SMRT are proceeding with systems integration testing across the entire CCL. This testing is to ensure reliable service after CCL6 is completed. During this phase, longer blocks of engineering hours are required for integration and compatibility testing. To facilitate these works, train services on the CCL will be adjusted from 5 September to 28 December 2025.
Circle Line Stage 6 Overview
The CCL6 will connect the HarbourFront and Marina Bay stations via three new stations, completing the loop of the CCL. When CCL6 opens, commuters can experience travel time savings of up to 10 minutes, with the closed loop offering a faster route through the Marina Bay area. The CCL6 extension will add three stations between HarbourFront and Marina Bay MRT. The 4 km extension will add three stations: Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road.
Benefits of the Completed CCL
The completed CCL will connect to all existing train lines and reduce travel time, offering commuters alternative routes that bypass the busy interchanges at City Hall and Raffles Place. This will bring the total number of CCL stations to 33, including 12 interchange stations that connect to other rail lines.
Conclusion
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT have completed the ISCS installation and are now testing the system in preparation for the Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6) opening, which will connect HarbourFront and Marina Bay stations.
