Siemens Mobility provided a Class 332 carriage to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service. This carriage, including a driver’s cab and passenger section, was originally part of the first mainline train Siemens delivered to the UK. It operated on Heathrow Express services between Heathrow Airport and London Paddington from 1998 to 2019.

Purpose of the Donation

The donated carriage will be used to simulate realistic emergency scenarios. These include railway derailments, road traffic collisions, terrorist incidents, and casualty management in confined spaces. The carriage will also support multi-agency training involving Humberside Police and ambulance services.

Logistics and Collaboration

The carriage was moved from Siemens Mobility’s Goole site in East Yorkshire, part of a £240 million investment for the Goole Rail Village, to the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s Central Training Section in Immingham. Siemens Mobility collaborated with the fire service to facilitate the move. This included supporting the installation of sleepers, rails, and ballast, and arranging transportation with a haulage company. The project aligned with the fire service’s training schedule.
