Introduction

The Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF) performed the preliminary acceptance of the first Pesa InterRegional EMU and two regional electric trainsets at the manufacturer’s plant in Bydgoszcz in early September.

InterRegional EMU Acceptance

The preliminary acceptance process began with the InterRegional EMU (RE-IR2), part of the “Procurement of 20 long-distance interregional electric units” project. ARF representatives conducted a visual inspection of the production process. They then accepted the vehicle’s car body and bogie frame. The positioning and installation of the passenger seats were validated. All necessary equipment for the electric unit, slated for delivery to Romania, was confirmed as fully provided.

Delivery and Certification Timeline

The first Pesa InterRegional EMU from this project is scheduled for transport to Romania at the end of September 2025. Following delivery, testing and trials will commence for NoBo and DeBo certification. Type approval and market introduction authorization will follow, adhering to the European and national legal framework.
