Introduction

PKP Polish Railway Lines (PKP PLK) has revised its rail infrastructure tender plan for the current year, increasing the total value of announced tenders to PLN 27 billion (EUR 6.4 billion). This represents a EUR 2.6 billion increase over the originally anticipated PLN 16 billion (EUR 3.8 billion).

Increased Investment

The adjusted plan reflects a substantial increase in investment. By the close of 2025, PKP PLK anticipates the announcement of two additional significant tender procedures, each exceeding PLN 100 million (EUR 23.6 million). The first of these will focus on the reconstruction of the Sitkówka Nowiny – Miąsowa section, designated as LOT-B1-1. The second will involve the implementation of the ETCS Level 2 system on railway line no. 351, which runs between Poznań and Szczecin.

2026 Tender Plan

PKP PLK has also announced its rail infrastructure tender plan for 2026, valued at PLN 9.5 billion (EUR 2.3 billion). The majority of these tenders are scheduled to commence in the first quarter of the year. The final procurement procedures for the Podłęże – Piekiełko project, a major infrastructure undertaking, will also be launched during Q1 2026. Construction activities are planned to be underway throughout the project, with the exception of existing sections, such as Chabówka – Rabka Zaryte.

Regional Projects

In the subsequent quarter, tenders will be initiated to enhance rail services from Orzesze to Tychy, and to establish a new railway connection linking Tychy and Bieruń. In Q2, a tender will be announced for constructing a new rail link near Jaworzno Szczakowa station, aiming to reduce travel times on the Kraków – Olkusz route. The third quarter will see tenders for the modernisation of Psary station, which is part of the Central Mainline (CMK), and its associated connections. This upgrade will include a grade-separated junction between the CMK and the line towards Kraków. In the fourth quarter, further key investments are planned, including the revitalization of the rail corridor on lines no. 390 and 236 Czarnków – Rogoźno – Wągrowiec, the construction of a new railway connection between Kraków and Niepołomice, and construction works under the Wrocław Metropolitan Railway project, including the Środa Śląska – Wrocław section.

Project Goals

These projects are designed to improve train safety, operational efficiency, and technological solutions within Poland’s railway infrastructure, as well as to enhance regional transport links and rail accessibility across various regions.
