Egis has been appointed as the Site Supervision Consultant (SSC) for the construction of the 3.6 km Riyadh monorail in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD).

Project Scope

Egis will oversee the construction of the monorail system, which will be operated by six two-car trains on an elevated one-way loop. The system will include six strategically located stations within public buildings.

Egis’s Role

As the SSC, Egis will provide comprehensive oversight of the project, covering rolling stock, rail systems, civil and structural works, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP), architecture, utilities, and landscaping. Their responsibilities also include reviewing and approving shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals, along with ensuring compliance and quality control during construction.

Strategic Significance

The KAFD monorail is designed to improve accessibility within the district, supporting KAFD’s concept as a pedestrian-centric “10-minute city”. The monorail’s integration with the Riyadh Metro aims to streamline transit for professionals, residents, and visitors. Egis, as part of the Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC) consortium, previously supervised the project management, design, and construction of the Riyadh Metro’s Blue, Red, and Orange lines (Lines 1, 2, and 3) for The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).
