Introduction
Danske Statsbaner (DSB) has awarded TK Elevator a five-year nationwide service contract for the maintenance of over 200 lifts and escalators, along with 160 other mobility units across the S-train network and at long-distance and regional stations throughout Denmark.
Contract Details
The new agreement between DSB and TK Elevator includes the option for a further extension of up to three years. The total value of the contract is estimated at DKK 712 million (EUR 95.4 million).
DSB’s Perspective
“We have chosen to continue our collaboration with TK Elevator A/S, which has proven to be a reliable partner with in-depth knowledge of DSB’s buildings and stations. Our customers must be confident that lifts and escalators are functioning when they travel on our trains,” said Lars Gøtke, Director of DSB Ejendomme.
Maintenance Strategy
The agreement is designed to ensure improved quality and greater stability in the maintenance of DSB’s facilities. As part of the new approach, a strategic spare parts warehouse will be established, focusing on critical components with long delivery times. This is intended to minimise downtime and ensure more reliable operation of DSB’s lifts and escalators.
TK Elevator’s Role
“We are delighted to have been awarded the contract with DSB once again. We have greatly valued the cooperation in recent years and look forward to contributing our expertise to support DSB’s important mission of delivering safe and seamless passenger rail travel across Denmark,” said Alexander Heinz, Managing Director of TK Elevator Denmark.
Operational Scope
DSB is responsible for lifts and escalators within the S-train system and interior access at long-distance and regional stations. This includes 173 lifts, 49 escalators, 153 disabled access lifts, and 6 platform lifts. Banedanmark is responsible for the lifts and escalators that serve as external access points at long-distance and regional stations—comprising 159 lifts and 7 escalators.
Market Presence
The new agreement further strengthens TKE’s presence in Denmark, building on the service contract secured earlier this year with Banedanmark for the maintenance of more than 165 lifts and escalators. Together, these contracts position TKE as a key partner in maintaining over 500 mobility units, supporting the accessibility and reliability of Denmark’s public transport infrastructure.
Conclusion
DSB has awarded TK Elevator a five-year contract, valued at DKK 712 million (EUR 95.4 million), for the maintenance of lifts, escalators, and other mobility units across the S-train network and at long-distance and regional stations in Denmark. The contract includes an extension option and focuses on improving maintenance quality and reliability.
