Introduction

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) announced that its Silver Line commuter-rail service will commence passenger transport on October 25. The 26-mile line connects Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, and Grapevine, including Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

New Service Launch

DART President and CEO Nadine Lee confirmed the launch date last week. The Silver Line will utilize Stadler-built trains, feature new stations, and provide easy transfers to other transit services. DART will offer free rides across its entire light rail system and the Silver Line on October 25. Furthermore, the Silver Line will be free to ride from October 25 through November 8. Grand opening celebrations will take place at 10 Silver Line stations.

The Silver Line spans 26 miles, connecting multiple cities and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The route includes Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, and Grapevine.

Construction and Cost

Construction of the Silver Line began in 2019. The estimated cost of the project was $2.1 billion, according to a local news report.
