Introduction

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) has commenced restoration work on Wilshire Boulevard in the Westwood area, a key step in the D Line subway extension project. This project, scheduled for completion in 2027, will connect Westwood to downtown Los Angeles.

Surface Road Reconstruction

The current work focuses on the reconstruction of the surface-level road, representing a significant advancement in the D Line subway extension project. Crews are scheduled to work over 10 to 12 weekends.

Concrete Panel Removal

A key aspect of the restoration involves the removal of over 700 concrete deck panels. These panels currently provide a temporary surface on Wilshire Boulevard at the future Westwood and University of California-Los Angeles subway station site.

Restoration and Station Construction

Following the panel removal, the contractor will restore Wilshire Boulevard to its standard condition. This will facilitate the continuation of construction on the subway station.

D Line Extension Overview

The D Line subway project will extend 9 miles underground. The route includes stations in Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, Century City, and Westwood. Upon completion in 2027, the project will allow passengers to travel from Westwood to downtown Los Angeles in 25 minutes.
