On-Board Speed Control System
Alstom’s on-board speed control system, which meets RATP Octys standards, has been deployed on Line 10 to upgrade the line. Developed in partnership with RATP and based on CBTC technology, the system provides location and speed control functions while adhering to the highest safety standards. RATP has also awarded Alstom the contract to equip lines 7bis and 3bis of the Paris metro with this on-board technology.
Deployment Strategy and Timeline
The deployment on Line 10 is part of a broader strategy by RATP. Lines 5, 6, 9, and 11 are already equipped with the Octys solution developed by Alstom for RATP. The new trains will run on 8 lines of the Paris metro network, with Line 7bis following in 2026, Lines 3bis and Line 13 in 2027. From 2028, they will operate on Line 12, on Line 8 in 2029, Line 3 in 2031, and finally, Line 7 in 2033.
Train Configurations and Capacity
The MF19 metro train offers adaptability and modularity to suit the needs of eight Paris metro lines. It can be configured with 4 or 5 cars and measure between 61 and 77.5 meters, depending on platform length. It is available with automatic driving or a driver’s cab. On Line 10, MF19 trains are equipped in the “comfort” version, offering 146 seats and a total capacity of 586 passengers, rising to 828 during peak hours. This configuration also meets the needs of Lines 3 and 12. On other lines, the MF19 will operate in high-capacity versions providing 122 seats.
