The Carrying Capacity of the Main Sections of the Baikal-Amur Mainline and the Trans-Siberian Railway Increased by One-Third since 2013

The completion of the work, planned for 2017, will increase the carrying capacity of the Baikal-Amur Mainline from the previous level (2012):
• Taishet-Tynda: from 11.2 million to 14.3 million t per year ( 27.7%). In accordance with the investment project approved by the government of the Russian Federation, the target figure is 24.7 million t by 2020.
• Tynda-Komsomolsk-on-Amur: from 13.8 million to 23.2 million t per year ( 68.1%); the target is 24.6 million t.
• Komsomolsk-on-Amur-Vanino: from 19.3 million to 37.1 million t per year ( 92.2%); the target value has been reached.
The carrying capacity of the Trans-Siberian Railway will increase in the following sections:
• Taishet-Bamovskaya: from 68 million to 88.8 million t per year ( 30.6%); the target is 98.5 million t.
• Bamovskaya-Volochaevka: from 83.8 million to 95.8 million t per year ( 14.3%); the target is 125.7 million t.
• Volochaevka-Nakhodka: from 59.6 million to 78.5 million t per year ( 31.7%); the target is 125.1 million t.
In 2017, it is planned to put into operation facilities worth a total of 49.6 billion rubles.
The reconstruction of 11 stations, 33 small bridges, and 17.2 km of the contact network will be completed. Modernization will affect 889 km of the railway track. Ten tracks, 38.2 km of the second tracks on five sections, and nine houses will be built.
