Thales will Maintenance Signalling System in Spain
French firm Thales has been awarded a four-year contract to maintain signalling installations, train protection systems and technical buildings of the 180km Madrid-Valladolid high-speed rail line in Spain.
The €41.2m deal with rail infrastructure manager ADIF also includes maintaining workshops for high-speed trains in Fuencarral and the 24km Olmedo-Medina del Campo branch line.
The deal covers preventive and corrective maintenance work on signalling systems such as electronic interlockings, CTC, track circuits and axle counters, train protection systems ETCS Level 1 and Level 2 and ASFA, as well as power supply systems, auxiliary systems and technical buildings.
Thales had led the consortium that supplied train command and control systems, telecommunication and energy for the Madrid-Valladolid high-speed line that was inaugurated in December 2007.
