Under the deal, Stadler will deliver 11 three-car and 15 five-car EMUs for Stuttgart Lot 2, which covers 3.7 million km/year.

For Lot 3 services, a further nine four-car and 10 six-car EMUs will be delivered, totalling 4.4 million vehicle km/year.

The vehicles in this lot will be fitted with an additional train security system (LZB) and be equipped for installation of the ETCS Level 2 system at a later date.

Stadler Pankow’s managing director Ulf Braker said:
”We are pleased that our new business partner has decided to place their trust in us, and we look forward to working together in the future.”
Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft was established in Berlin in 2014 and it initiated a call for tenders across Europe for trains to be operated on the Stuttgart Network 1.

Stadler noted that the 160km/h low-floor EMUs will have 10 first-class seats, with 165, 217, 273, or 329 standard seats.

Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland’s managing director Stefan Krispin said:
“We are greatly looking forward to working together with our partner Stadler to provide our passengers with a safe and comfortable travelling experience.

“Creating long-term partnerships in and for the region is an integral component of our company philosophy.”
