Stadler to Suplly 45 EMUs for Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland
Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland has awarded Stadler Pankow a contract to supply 45 Flirt3 electric multiple-units (EMUs) for use on the Stuttgart Network 1.
Under the deal, Stadler will deliver 11 three-car and 15 five-car EMUs for Stuttgart Lot 2, which covers 3.7 million km/year.
For Lot 3 services, a further nine four-car and 10 six-car EMUs will be delivered, totalling 4.4 million vehicle km/year.
The vehicles in this lot will be fitted with an additional train security system (LZB) and be equipped for installation of the ETCS Level 2 system at a later date.

Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft was established in Berlin in 2014 and it initiated a call for tenders across Europe for trains to be operated on the Stuttgart Network 1.
Stadler noted that the 160km/h low-floor EMUs will have 10 first-class seats, with 165, 217, 273, or 329 standard seats.

The new vehicles will be operated on the following routes after the timetable change in June 2019.
The routes include Stuttgart-Aalen-Crailsheim, Stuttgart-Ulm, Stuttgart-Aalen, Stuttgart-NBS S-MA-Pforzheim-Karlsruhe, and Stuttgart-Heilbronn-Osterburken-Lauda-Würzburg.
