Nexans will Supply Cables for Istanbul Railway Line
Nexans will supply 1,350km of specialised railway cables to Alstom for installation on the Turkish city of Istanbul’s Marmaray tube-Bosphorus rail line.
The €3.3m contract includes the manufacture and supply of signalling cables such as the ZPAU, digicode and eurobalise as well as low-voltage power cables K25.
The 76.3km rail line connects Halkalı on the European bank of the Bosphorus to the suburb of Gebze to Istanbul’s urban transport network and is scheduled to enter service in 2013.
The project’s phase 2 is being carried out by a consortium led by Alstom, which as the team leader, is handling the project coordination and general engineering, track installation and electrification and signalling.
Manufacture of the cables will begin shortly and finish by the end of 2010. The installation is scheduled for 2010–11.
