Iran Plans to Link to Armenia with Railway

Iran has offered to build a 500km railroad linking Iran and Armenia that will form a part of the North-South Corridor.
The proposed rail line will run through Jolfa to Nourdouz border in Iran to the city of Sisian in Armenia and is estimated to cost over $2.5bn.
Iran is currently constructing over 7,500km of railroad and has proposed cooperation with Armenia to build the project.
The country has proposed setting up a joint railroad commission to study the details of the project and the funds required for the rail line ahead of signing a memorandum of understanding.
The railroad project will be carried out as a part of the North-South Corridor and will be connected to Europe via Armenia and Georgia.
