Business investment in Myanmar particularly in the infrastructure sector has gradually regained momentum after the political transition in April 2016, sending a signal to investors that Myanmar is still committed to the on-going economic and political reform agenda. According to the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, Myanmar is seeking to attract $8 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) and have seen the country drew $9.5 billion worth of FDI in the last FY of 2015-2016.

As set out in the National Comprehensive Development Plan, the government of Myanmar has prioritized infrastructural and economic development along certain major trade paths through the country in order to facilitate the integration of Myanmar into production networks of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and Myanmar’s Western neighbours. In order to enable the country in carrying the industrial and agricultural growth for Myanmar’s dynamic future, an upgraded and better infrastructure is an essential requirement.

The 3-day conference will cover on a wide range of discussion areas; Integrated Master Planning for Sustainable Urbanization, Development of Smart and Sustainable REITs, Financing Options and Regulatory Framework for Infrastructure Projects in Myanmar, Conservation and Reuse of Heritage Buildings and Cultural Sites in Myanmar, Accelerating Tourism Infrastructure Development for Economic Growth, and Urban and Regional Transportation Infrastructures as an Economic Accelerator and Expansion for Myanmar. On the first day, there will also be a ‘Infrastructure Investment Meeting for Investors’ session chaired by the guest of honour to explore possible collaboration with serious investors.

Participants will not only be benefited from the rich content of the conference, most importantly, to establish possible collaboration with the local partners, project owners and other stakeholders through series of business matching meeting held throughout the entire conference. On the third day of the event, the committee has arranged an exclusive projects presentation by the government of Myanmar, namely the Yangon City Development Committee, Mandalay City Development Committee and Myanmar Investment and Development Association in which only limited seats will be offered to serious investors. MIS 2017 offers only the best platform for project financiers, investors, fund management firms, architects, designers, facility management, ports, airports, and roads infrastructure developers, airline operators, network solution providers, materials suppliers, quantity surveyors, and energy managers to be updated on the development plans and policies of investing in Myanmar’s urban and rural infrastructure and assess market opportunities that Myanmar could offer.
